Interiors | Home Tour

It's been six months since we moved into our first home, and although it only feels like yesterday I am amazed at how much we have managed to do in the house to make it feel like home. I thought it would be the perfect time write a little update post showing you all the finishing touches we have made along with some before and after photos...

When we first moved in, the house was old and tired and in serious need of some love. We have since painted every room, replaced the old carpet with laminates and sanded the original wooden floors. I have loved adding personality to each room with quirky accessories and homewares, its been so fun making the house feel like our own.

Living Room

My favourite part of this room is the bay window which lets in lots of light and make this small front room feel a lot bigger. The first thing we did was take up the old carpet and painted the walls a natural colour which immediately made the room feel more open and airy.

We chose these sofas from Next in a neutral grey colour to make the room feel contemporary and cosy, I was able to bring a little colour into the room with fun cushions from Etsy.

Dining Room

This is this biggest room in the house and connects the hallway with the kitchen. I was a little overwhelmed at the size to start as I wasn't sure what to fill it with but once we bought our table and rug it brought the room together and started to feel a lot cosier.

The original wooden floor was worn and tired when we moved in, so we had it professionally sanded and varnished, which really transformed the room!

I bought this reclaimed wooden bench from a local maker in Harrogate who made it to fit perfectly under our table and painted the legs in the same shade as the chairs I up-cycled. I love adding handmade touches like this, not only is it supporting local businesses but I have a unique piece of quality furniture that can't be found on the high street.

Guest Room

This is the last room we decorated and by far the lightest room in the house. When we moved in the walls were bright yellow and the carpet was old and tired. We laid the same laminate as the dining room, and kept the bedding neutral to match the walls. I love the little fold out table in here as it's perfect for when I need to work, but doesn't take up too much room when its stored away.

My mum made the blind in this room from some gorgeous duck-egg blue tartan fabric I found in Abakan, it suits the Nordic style of the room and frames the window perfectly.

Rug - Dunelm

It's so rewarding to finally see our hard work paying off and for the house to start feeling like a home.

The last six months has flown by but I am so proud of what we have achieved. We try to find bargains where we can and upcycle to make the most of old furniture, which just shows it is possible to transform a beautiful space on a budget.

I hope you have enjoyed this little tour and maybe gained a little inspiration.

Thanks for reading,

Anna
